| rose of light | spotlight on glitter | + glitter off |

Now, I’m not one for glitter. Don’t get me wrong I love the look of it. It’s the fact that it’s a nightmare to get off. Thankfully OPI have released an amazing new product called Glitter Off. It’s a base coat that allows you to scratch and lift off your polish when you are ready to remove it! From the look and smell of it, it seems like it consists of PVC glue or something similar. It paints on white, and dries quickly to a slightly cloudy clear.

Armed with my new basecoat I grabbed one of my new glitters, Rose of Light. It’s a pretty rose gold glitter with pink hologram square pieces in a clear base. I’m loving rose gold at the moment so it appealed to me straight away. I have to say I wasn’t overly impressed with the Spotlight on Glitter range. I felt most of them were dupes for previous OPI glitters, so I picked up two!

Below shows two coats, over a Glitter Off basecoat.

The glitter was a little tricky to get even, with a very thick base. Coverage was OK although definitely not what I had hoped it would be. As you can see from the photos, my nails are suffering without a break over the past few months, and are quite discoloured, so I really want to cover that up, not highlight it!

When it came time to remove, I used a cuticle pusher to lift off the lacquer from the top corner of my nail. It slowly started to lift off and peel away! It lasted 3 days before I noticed it lifting naturally, so it’s definitely for a reduced wear length that without the Glitter Off. There were no marks or dents on my natural nail, and the whole removal only took about 5 minutes!

Overall very happy with the product, and will be using alot of Glitter moving forward. In regards to the glitter, will be wearing again, however over the top of another opaque!

Happy polishing

| you’re so vain-illa | coca cola |

ALRIGHTY! Another newbie from the Coca Cola range.

This one is totally up my alley! Love a good neutral. And this is no exception! It’s super creamy, very much like My Vampire is Buff. This one is more yellow based than Vampire. I totally see the connection to Vanilla Coke.

I used two coats with no base or top coat for below photos.

I have to apologies for the quality of my nails and photos! I rushed both, and took photos without checking them! I’m trying to catch up on all my recent polish purchases so I decided just to post! This is the exact reason I haven’t been posting – the lighting is shocking in winter!!

As you can see – it’s a stunning nude! The third photo (indoor/shade) is best representation of true colour. The consistency is great. Goes on very easily, and is very opaque after one coat. It does have a certain chalkiness to it so make sure you apply in good light so that you don’t create any dry looking patches.

Is anyone else as obsessed as me with nudes? I just seem to keep buying them over and over again, and still can’t get enough!

Happy polishing!

| turn on the haute light | coca cola |

Hello fellow OPI lovers!

Long time no blog, eh!? Sorry I’ve been MIA. There’s really no excuse. I’ve let myself down!

Over the last couple of months I’ve accumulated quite a few new OPI collections. We’ve had Neons, Spotlight on Glitter, along with the new and fancy Glitter Off basecoat, and the Coca Cola collection! The days are short as it’s currently Summer in Melbourne, so I’m no confident that I’ll get many chances to do swatches after work; it seems as if I’m only home when it’s dark! I will make an effort to catch up and show you all the latest colours and products!

I had a 50th to attend this weekend, and thought I’d try out something new and sparkly. I grabbed a silver shimmer from the Coca Cola collection. I was a bit excited about this colour as it looked really chrome and was just a single step process! None of that Gwen Stefani mucking around this time!

Photos below show two coats, with a base and Seche Vite top coat.

The formula was great and slid on so easily. You could easily get away with one coat as it’s was completely opaque and lush. The actual finish is stunning. It hides your sins, unlike the previous silver chrome we’ve seen released recently. The shimmer is very pronounced on the nail, and helps give it that sparkly look. Absolutely love this one for a night out. It could even be replacing my old favorite Birthday Babe!

Has anyone else tried it? What did you think?

Stay tuned for some more swatches!

Happy polishing!

| dont burst my bubble | great and powerful oz |

Here is another colour from the Great and Powerful Oz collection that I didn’t have. How on earth did I not get this earlier?!? This can be the problem when you have hundreds… You can double up or miss some!

Don’t Burst My Bubble is a creamy white crelly. I used three coats for the below photos, no top or base coat.

Consistency on this one was similar to I Theodora You.  A little bit tricky and streaky, but can be avoided if you pay attention and don’t over work it. Again, you could get away with two coats. I really wanted to hid the nail line, so I went the extra coat, although as you can see it’s still not 100% opaque.

This one reminds me of So Many Clowns, So Little Time, except it a little more cream based than white. Absolutley love this colour, and bought 3 back ups to ensure I never run out!! Cannot wait to wear this in Winter with all my grey and black clothes! Sooo clean and crisp looking!

Is anyone else as obsessed with these types of polishes as me?!

Happy Tuesday!

It has been so long since I’ve posted! I can’t believe how slack I’ve been.  I’m 6 weeks into a new job, and just haven’t gotten into the working/blogging rhythm yet!

My collection has grown quite a bit since I last updated you. I picked up a heap of old discontinued colours in my travels, and am slowly wearing my way through them!

First one, which my salon supplier has decided to discontinue, is one that I can’t believe I didn’t have! When the Great and Powerful OZ collection came out I was instantly in love. I love all of the Soft Shades collections so far, and this was no exception! Perfect neutral tones, with killer glitters!

I used three coats for the below photos, no base or top coat.

As you can see, this polish is not very opaque. Normally this would really bug me, but I didn’t actually mind it. Consistency was quite good. A little streaky if over worked, but if you’re aware you can work around it. You could totally get away with two coats if you were patient!

I love the colour of this – it’s just a little bit pink. Looks really great on the nails by itself for work, or underneath a simple glitter.

I raced out and bought 3 back ups just incase I never find it again!! 🙂 I really love neutrals!!!

Happy polishing!

| miss piggy’s big number | muppets most wanted |

And lucky last! The final beauty in my new collection! Miss Piggy’s Big Number is a sapphire/royal blue chrome shimmer. It’s simply stunning!

I used two coats for the photos below, no base or top.

I love, love, love this polish! The finish is amazing! It’s very chrome, however doesn’t really show streakyness like others I’ve used, and doesn’t require an annoying two step process! The consistency was gloopy and application was difficult, however it was definitely worth it. Two coats for perfect opacity, and a super shiny finish!

Overall, I think this is a really good collection. 6 out of the 8 are quite unique for OPI, which is refreshing after some of the collections late last year. I am excited to see what else they are yet to deliver!

Happy polishing!

| kermit me to speak | muppets most wanted |

The second last swatch for today is Kermit Me To Speak, a purple and greeny gold duochrome. If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll be aware that I’m not a fan of duochromes. I’ve tried them many times, but I really just don’t appreciate the look the create. And they all seem very similar to me!

Below photos show two coats, no base or top coat.

The formula on this was really good. It goes on so smooth, and is opaque within two coats. The drying time is also astonishing. It takes about 40 seconds for it to be touch dry. I like that this one is a little more gold, rather than silver, however it’s still too similar to others that I have for me to get excited. I do love the name though!!

Happy polishing!
